As I have confessed already - I'm a bit of Arthur Lowe fan, and in my curiosity I've just bought the 'Bless Me Father' DVD boxset from America. (Tricky - I even had to find an illegal code from the internet to hack into my cheap DVD player and change it's regional code setting - what I won't do in the name of comedy).
Anyhow, I think it's quietly good. It's pace took some getting used to after being used to the visual feast of Dad's Army, but I'm surprised that more hasn't been made of it by ITV over the years - I'm sure it could have survived a few repeats at least.
Captain Mainwaring with an Irish accent is comedy enough for me.
My slightly less understanding sister said something along the lines of "OK, I can appreciate Dad's Army is funny, but this is pushing it even for your taste..." when I tied her to a chair and force fed her an episode.
No faith that girl.
Am I just biased beacuse of the novelty of seeing Captain Mainwaring in a cassock, or does anyone else like this?
