I know there's a lot in DA, but we don't care, do we?  It's part of the fun of the show.

I watched "The Royal Train" again last night and noticed right at the end when the platoon come back to the station from stopping and reversing the train to salute the King, that the main characters, with the notable exception of Frazer, all stand to attention next to the water trough by the track.

Seconds later the camera pans along the line and Frazer is in the line and as wet as the rest of them.

One of the other glaringly obvious ones I've noticed was I think in "The Showing Up Of Corporal Jones" where while supposedly trying to help Jones pass the test, Walker goes off and steals a chicken from a farmhouse, but the next clip sees him back with Jones and the boys going through the test.  It flicks back a couple of times so it's not like they were portraying Walker stealing the chicken then returning afterwards.

So what's everyone's faves?

Not sure if it qualifies as a 'blooper', more a 'prop failure' -
In 'Branded' when Jones and Walker return from patrol for a cup of tea, joining Pike and Fraser.  When Walker hangs his helmet on the coat rack, the rack promptly falls to the floor.

I think there's a second or two when James Beck is expecting Harold Snoad (the Director) to shout 'CUT' and when this fails to happen, James Beck carries on regardless.

I'd noticed that one myself.  I would assume that the cost of film in those days prevented many scenes like that from being re-shot.

They probably said something like "ahh, they'll never notice!" Smile

A few I can remember of the top of my head are:

In "Man Hunt", Walker is in the office talking to Mainwaring & he knocks over the telephone.

In "Uninvited Guests", during the communications excercise Godfrey comes in early with his line, he ends up saying it twice.

In "War Dance" Frazer's niece Blodwyn says her line too early, pity because it was her only line in the episode!.

In "A Soldier's Farewell", when the national anthem is played Pike sings "God Save The Queen", during the King George VI was monarch.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Just watched this one (I've been working my way through the series yet again - back to number 1 again now Wink) and noticed that Mainwaring called the regular army Captain "Sir" and saluted him.

I'm a fan of all things military, and I'm not sure if this one is technically a blooper, but surely officers of equal rank never called each other Sir, even if one was regular army and the other Home Guard?  I would have thought they'd use first names if they knew each other or simply their rank for those who didn't???

I stand to be corrected if anyone can clarify.

Jones often calls Wilson Sir too, but I assume this was done to enhance his on-screen "dottiness."

Wrong episode.  It was actually "Battle School."  Just watched it again last night and it's so noticeable.   Embarassed

I'm not really that keen to pick on the series by exposing errors in continuity or fluffs etc. To the average viewer when this was made and screened, no-one would have noticed most of the 'bloopers', it's only nowadays where we have the luxury of watching the shows over and over you pick up on things.

The most obvious is the already mentioned 'prop failure' where the coat rack falls down. But as professional actors they carried on and so studio time wasn't wasted. It is known that David Croft didn't do retakes unless completely necessary so such things were just put down as 'life happens' I guess. et's face it, people do drop things or muddle their words or whatever in everyday life too, It doesn't matter.

There is something however that sticks out to me. In The Showing Up of Lance Corporal Jones they are issued their denim uniforms. Mainwaring gives the men 45 minutes to run home and come back with their buttons sewn on.

In that short time Jones has apparently sewn his butons on AND also sewn on all his medal ribbons! It's just not possible. Again, something ony noticed after repaeated viewings and it doesn't really matter.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I think the bloopers add character to the show and I appreciate what you say about being able to revisit old episodes again and again.

I just felt that since there was a section on the Trivia board highlighting bloopers, I thought I'd start a thread on those people had noticed.  It's not a dig at the show, just a "hey, how about that."

I can't remember the episode but I think it was Mums Army when Mainwaring says he is the manager of Martins Bank instead of the Swallow while sitting in the Marigold tea rooms.

Must have been filmed around the time of the film I think.
