The Friends of Thetford Dad’s Army Museum are organising an event to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the filming of the Dad’s Army series in and around the town. We will be using the event to raise further funds for our ‘statue of Captain Mainwaring appeal’. We have a number of re-enactment societies attending, who will be authentically dressed. One group will be recreating some of the sketches originally filmed in Thetford. There will also be an original NAAFI tea truck following them on their outside locations. We will also have a number of the original Dad’s Army vehicles on display, together with other military vehicles of the era. Many of the local establishments will be joining in the 1940’s theme. The main days events will take place on the Sunday. We have a beautiful garden right in the centre of town that will host a number of tents for those wishing to camp, hotels & B & Bs are already becoming booked up. Outside the Guildhall will be a stage and Jill Daniels, our fantastic WWII entertainer will be singing on the Sunday afternoon. Jill will also be entertaining on the Saturday night, when there will be an authentic 1940s evening held at the Guildhall. Tickets are already selling well and they are very limited so if you are interested contact me asap
