Hello everyone,

Now as a resident of Watford I am very interested in the links that the show has with Watford. Now I have heard that some of the characters were based on ones that Jimmy Perry had met in the Home Guard whilst in Watford. For example the local Bank Manager worked at the Halifax ! Whilst One of the Veterans on duty at Cassiobury Park talked of his exploits in the Sudan.
Jimmy Perry also ran the Palace Theatre for a while and cast members such as Frank Williams,Janet Davis and Olive Mercer all acted in the Theatre.
Anyone know any more connections as my ultimate aim is to give a free Dads Army guided tour for Watford museum which of course you would all be welcome to attend.
