Hello!

Well, I've finally cracked it. I've been a fan of Hancock and Steptoe since I was 14 (I'm now 30), but for some reason I just couldn't "get into" Dad's Army. It's not like I don't have an interest in the period, I do. I fact I saw the script editor of Goodnight Sweetheart back in 1998 with view to writing an episode. (I was turned down sadly!)
But last year and this, with the online sales on, I decided once and for all to persevere and give Dad's Army a proper try.

Various people told me it was a very good show to get into (one of these was Kevin Jon Davies, producer of the 'We are the Boys' documentaries on the DVD's, so I guess he was biased!) So, I bought Series 1 and the Lost episodes of 2. Good point to start or not? Viewers at the time didn't have much choice I guess. I've bought them all chronologically now, except for Series 9 (which I am awaiting delivery of) and the Christmas Specials. Never seen the film either.

So far my favourite episodes are...

War Dance
Menace From the Deep
Boots, Boots, Boots
Mum's Army
Fallen Idol
Turkey Dinner
High Finance

Very Happy

Hi @Brad, welcome on board!
My one of my personal favourites is The Deadly Attachment - Philip Madoc actually has a rather good German accent!  Very Happy

Hi Brad

I have to say that I like all of those you mention, but love Ring Dem Bells the most - for me, Pike as a German officer simply was not beaten!!

I'm currently working my way through every episode at one a night in order !

I've just finished 'A Brush with the Law' and I have to say it's in my top ten so far.

Square v Mainwairing in the court is something else ! Razz

'You can go back into the box for the sentence'

'Isn't that a bit premature?'

'Verdict, I meant verdict. Same thing really.'

(or words to that effect)

@oldrocker, where near Wolverhampton? (Sorry to be pedantic, but the 'v' is missing in your Profile  Sad ). I lived for 3 years in Dudley and 9 years in Sedgley, so I know that corner of the earth pretty well.

Back to Sedgley for a while and now in Castlecroft in the fine metropoliis that is Wolverhampton !

But not in the Black Country despite the signs !
