Clive was in England so why not used on the show??I've seen pictures of the reunited cast outside BBC TV centre from the JR Salutes show. Just wondering why Clive wasn't used for the actual show and why they made out he was home in Portugal?

The pictures were actually taken outside the Imperial War Museum for the Dad's Army Appreciation Society's event a couple of weeks before the Ross special was recorded. The photos taken at both events have been used by the media interchangeably.
Clive went back to Portugal shortly after the DAAS bash. So, they were telling the truth, he really was out of the country!

Still, surely he could have been flown in seeing as he was one of the main characters of the show? And there were other actors of his vintage that made it to the show. Is this getting back to the thread about Clive's lukewarm attitude/antipathy towards the show?!

Have you considered that he may have had other commitments? Or that due to his age and poor sight he didn't feel up to another trip to the UK? There could be all manner of reasons why he was not there, and I don't think that fans of the show have any right to get upset at him for not appearing.
Perhaps he just hates Jonathon Ross? A lot of people do it seems.
