Ian Lavender interview

Nice little interview on the BBC website by a former bank cashier and Deputy Assistant Under-manager of iron mongery at Woolworths!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ian Lavender in Sheffield about six years ago. He was appearing at the Lyceum Theatre and during that week it was the the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Blood Transfusion Centre and the 'powers that be' thought that it would be a good idea to invite him to the event celebrating the 30 years..
He came and was made very welcome. I had a few words with him and found him to a likeable guy. He went on about giving blood earlier but, to my surprise, he couldn't remember his blood group. But then I am sure it wasn't anything rare (unlike the reason for him not being able to join the RAF in one of the episodes) because if it had been I am sure he would have told us about it!
A surprisingly modest chap - it was a pleasure to meet him in the flesh.
Ron.

Wow, I had no idea about this! What is it about actors? Or Dads Army ones anyway. "They live on cigarettes and their nerves" as my mum would say... I'm sure she should know. Confused

Thanks for the link to that interview.  It's a bit of a jolt to realize the "baby" of the platoon is now 60, isn't it?
