I've contributed copies of these songs to the Dads Army Appreciation Society's audio library on CD in the past, as I found a selection of wartime popular songs on CD that I recognised from the Dad's Army tv series at HMV's main Oxford Street branch in London. You might still find them on HMV's website.

I don't mean to imply that you can buy a single CD marked "Dad's Army", but HMV sell a range of wartime songs on CD and I noticed that various items on the tracklists of various of these CDs looked familiar.

The titles of the CDs I found at HMV were "In Town Tonight", "Songs of Wartime" and "You Must Remember This". One or more of them were released on the Empress label.

There's a track listing for the "In Town Tonight" CD at http://www.timelesstracks.com/acatalog/In_Town_Tonight.html

There's a track listing for the "Songs of Wartime" CD at http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Wartime-Various-Artists/dp/B0000300E7

Alternatively, you might join DAAS and borrow from their audio library the items I donated to them.

As I recall, DAAS has done a lot of research about the music used in Dad's Army. Your first port of call should be to e-mail them for more details. I remember they were selling (at nominal cost) details of the tv series, devoting one booklet to each season, and I think these booklets included details about the music links used in each episode.

The original versions of some of the wartime songs you've mentioned, that were featured in the tv series, are as follows:

"Run Rabbit Run" is sung by Flanagan and Allen (another contribution to the show by Bud Flanagan!). This is on the "Songs of Wartime" CD at http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Wartime-Various-Artists/dp/B0000300E7

Lords of the Air (which featured in the 1976 Dad's Army stage play) is also on that CD, performed by Joe Loss & His Band with singer Monte Rey.

The popular "There'll Always be an England" was sung in the war by Vera Lynn and many others. You'll find a number of versions of it on-line at http://www.sterlingtimes.co.uk/alwaysengland.Html

It too is on the CD "Songs of Wartime", performed by Joe Loss & His Band and sung by Monte Rey.

"Love in Bloom" was popularised by Kitty Carlisle and Bing Crosby in a 1934 movie.

You can watch and listen to the Andrews Sisters perform their big hit 'Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree' in a video clip on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg7ymwFsMI0

A CD version is at www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7321452/a/Don't+Sit+Under+The+Apple+Tree.htm

Cocktails For Two was a big hit for Spike Jones & His City Slickers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spike_Jones

Al Bowlly's career is detailed in Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Bowlly and you might also try the free Al Bowlly downloads at http://www.horizonofsound.com
