My son Stephen loves Dads Army, He has spotted something I never noticed, in the Alderman Mainwaring opening scene for the first ever episode Jones is missing, there is an unknown silver haired man at the start but this isnt clive dunn, all the others appear but no Jonesy! He has also spotted the Tommy gun starts out military issue front stock but then deelopes the gangster front handgrip for Pikes gangster scenes. He asked Perry and Croft but neither knew where Jones was, and thought Clive may have been on a loo break, but both were impressed with his obsevational skills, true gents and made his day along with Mrs Fox

I think Jones would have probably been dead by then.
The writers were aware of how old he was due to his participation in the previous campaigns he claimed.
The 'I'm Backing Britain Campaign' was started in 1968, and if Jones was 'about' 70 when the HG formed....
Having said that, both Frazer and Godfrey are there.
