Usergroups Set UpI have now set up the Usergroups system which is to be used for members to sign up for various groups. These groups will eventually include Moderator Groups, Email notifications, Specific Forum Moderation etc. It is very easy to use - just click on the Usergroups link and select the group from a dropdown box.
Groups will first appear in the Usergroups drop-down box when I have a need for members. The whole point of the system is to make our time on the forum a lot easier so please do not bypass the Usergroup system by sending out PMs, emails or by making forum posts.
There are three types of Usergroups - Open , Closed and Hidden
Open - forum members may request membership of these groups and can see who else is in these groups.
Closed - forum members may not request membership of these groups but can be added by the group moderator. They also can see who is in the group.
Hidden - these groups are not open to forum members to either see or join except those who have been given permission.
Please do not be offended if your request to join a group is refused and do not ask group members, moderators or myself why you could not join. There are many reasons why there are restrictions on joining some of these groups. Sometimes it is as simple a reason as having enough members. There will be occasions when someone may be allowed to join after you were refused but this would have been because I approved them verbally prior to your request. Do not ask about Hidden groups either as there are many groups that have been set up for myself and group members to administer the site behind the scene. For obvious reasons I cannot make public details on those.
Be sure to check the Usergroups on a regular basis because I will be needing forum members to assist me with many tasks. The list will be increasing all the time!
At the moment you can only sign up to receive Administrative Site Notice emails.
