Hi Chaps
I've known Dave Cov for a number of years - in fact we met via my Mum who (from memory!) tracked Dave down via his Whispers Site and asked him and Mike Geraghty to 'baby sit' me at the opening of the Bressingham museum in 2000. Can I just say Dave, that was seriously one of the best weekends of my life. Such a unique experience.
Anyway, here's a bit about me:

Actually, your mum contacted Mike via his web site! When I met up with Mike at Thetford he was complaining about having to baby-sit someone! Turned out to be you!
Here is a picture taken at Bressingham (I have thinned down a bit since then - especially as I gave up the booze a year ago)!
LtoR: Mike Geraghty, Will Martyn, Dave Coventry
A very good time was had by all!

Hello!Hello to all!
I am Peter S.Lewis (Born 1948) (Married to Patzi...35 years...they said it wouldn't last!!
No children........
Self employed......cleaning......no money in that ...any suggestions...
(I'm well educated...personable....diplomatic...but not that good at heights......two serious ladder falls put paid to the window cleaning!)
Favourite author: Charles Dickens
Favourite Film...."The Quiet Man" (John Wayne) We lived in Ireland in the 70s......this film captures the very essence of Irishness, in much the same way Dad's Army captures the very essence of Englishness (Victoria Woods' " Dinnerladies" is in this class of comedy, in my view...ensemble acting etc....)
Favourite Singer(s): Anthony Newley (the late great!) Tony Christie.
Favourite Groups: Searchers, Smokie, Eagles
Most recent musical experience.....Steven Seagal at Warwick Arts Centre ... what a revelation!
I think that's quite enought to be going on with!
Look forward to sharing more thoughts as time goes by...
Regards,
Peter S.Lewis

Name: Jo Byrde
Age: 22
Location: Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset
Occupation: Too many arty people at art college, too many welsh people at Cardiff university (that was a JOKE berfore I get Ann Robinson style hate mail - although I see from the forum that Cheeseman-bashing is an official sport). So currently am unemployed at home visiting forums and drawing cartoons. Will probably eventually be a) very famous cartoonist b) a poor spinster with cats.
Family: Live with parents, laptop and a cat (so rot's set in already).
Favourite Films: Amelie, um.... no I can't write that, that's crap. Can't think of any (Dads Army film should have been shot in traditional studio settings and had more vicar and verger, so I'm boycotting it from my list).
Last Film seen at Cinema: Hot Fuzz. I've been seeing everything recently since we lost our TV aerial 2 months ago in a storm and it took The Man that long to find our remote village to fix it. Also I can't make popcorn myself, and £4 for a bag seems quite reasonable to me...
Last DVD I bought and watched: Dad's Army series 1 - 7. Finally fed up with rewinding my worn old tapes from the 90s to find the episode I want. Have tattooed on my elbow: 'Must stop spending money on dads army'.
Favourite TV: Political satire, classic comedy, new comedy (but not the crap) stand up comedy. Good documentaries.
Favourite Comedies: Dads Army, Peep Show, Father Ted, Not Nine O'Clock News, Blackadder.... I really could go on.
Favourite Music: Hip Hop, and everything else except metal and pop. Classical music played on the fast setting on record players.
Other Interests: Windsurfing - more of a compulsion than something I enjoy. Scare myself going out in conditions too big for me. Football results. Sneaking glimpses of tabloids when queuing in WHSmiths. Running and biking. WWII history. Ancient history. Listening to classic comedy on radio like Round the Horne. Drawing cartoons. Dropping innuendo into conversations when visiting granny. Sorry, I'm losing myself...

@ Swallow Bank, I first saw Dad's Army here in Germany after a friend in England sent a video of "The Day the Balloon Went Up" and the two associate episodes. I loved it from Day 1!
Funny that I had to come to Germany to discover this great 'wartime' classic! My wife (she's German) also finds them hilarious

Hi, I'm a Dad's Army fan from Australia. I was just a kid when it was shown here in the 1970s but my family loved it, especially my parents who both served in the RAAF during WWII. I was really pleased to discover a couple of years ago that the episodes were out on video, and later DVD. I bought a couple (and one for my parents) and when rewatching them was amazed at how wonderful the comedy was, far surpassing most of what passes for comedy these days . I love everything about it from the song at the beginning to the all clear siren at the end. When I was little I used to have to get Mum and Dad to explain things to me, like what an ARP warden was. I learned a lot about the war and that era in history from Dad's Army - what a fun way to learn! Great characters and a good combination of slapstick and other more subtle humour and no need to resort to sarcasm, belittling people or swear words to generate humour. Top stuff! . Glad to have found this forum to chat with other fans . (Although I have to confess I don't have the whole collection yet ).

I now own every episode on DVD (Have yet to purchase the film) and look forward to learning about and discussing more the escapades and lives of our Home Guard heroes on this board.
