Well we always knew that Mainwaring would say 'Stupid Boy' whenever Pike said something which he didn't agree with.
And that Mainwaring would always look shaken and have his glasses askew whenever he fell or stumbled.
And perhaps Godfrey would asked to be 'excused' and Mainwaring would have nothing of it.
Were there any other predictable moments from other members of the platoon?
Ron.

Here are a few more:

Jones and his "Don't panic!" routine at every sign of danger!

Jones volunteering.

Walker offering to get something on the black market "but you can't get them in the shops can you?".

Frazer's opposition to anything Captain Mainwaring said or did.

The phrase "Stupid, soppy looking boy!" became more widely used in later episodes when the Chief Warden was upset........

I think you'll find I'm a very shrewd judge of character...

Thanks Dave! Great forum - as you can see I'm getting a little carried away as I don't start work until mid-March and the laptop is far too enticing!

Glad you like the little forum! Early days yet but we will persevere!

I get too distracted by my other forum to spend much time here at present (just ask Ron - fluff75) but you can go as mad as you like. Just make sure you make the most of your free time. Very Happy

Dave

Frazer's start of a story - It was on the lonely island of Barra, a wild, and windy, place ye ken.................

What about the fabled Captain Mainwaring double-take...

"Ye-- What!?"

As far as I can tell Arthur Lowe does this in every character he plays, but fair play to him - it always makes me chuckle.
